Banning of Harry Potter Books

I don't think that schools should ban Harry Potter books because they are fantasy and magical. Kids have the right to imagination, we should be able to imagine a world where magic is knowing it isn't real. Harry Potter made reading popular again. In todays world kids would rather be playing xbox, outside playing football, and on facebook. Harry Potter brought back reading because kids wanted to read about magic. If you ban Harry Potter you would have to ban all fairytales because they all have magic and fantasy. In a lot of states, people have tried to ban Harry Potter books, some of the attempts were successful. For example, Gwinnett County, Georgia, a parent challenged the harry potter books because they promote witchcraft. When the school turned her down she went to the State Board of Education. After the School Board agreed with the decision of the local school directors she took her battle to court. In my eyes it ridiculous that they would even try to ban Harry Potter.Harry Potter has so many different themes that kids should be exposed to. The themes include; dealing with sibling rivalry, dealing with our friends perception of us, dealing with envy, having less money than we would want, listening to constructive feedback, the need of kids to be included and involved, dealing with past trama, bullying, working with adults, supporting friends, recognizing wrong treatment, courage, and taking responsibility. Yes I do know that Harry Potter is a wizard, I also realize that young kids want to be magical and have magical powers. Even though Harry Potter has magic and wizardry, Harry Potter teaches kids about challenges they will come across in life despite the fact that there is magic involved. Some people say that harry Potter suggests that kids are as powerful as adults, in a sense we are. Adults have been through more and understand more but, kids have the power to do the same things adults can, maybe not to the same extreme but basically kids are as powerful as adults. Some people argue that Harry potter promotes witchcraft and the super natural, well families can talk about their dislikes about the books together and explain to their kids what is real and what isnt real.
