I recently watched The Lovely Bones. I thought the tone of the movie was sad, slightly depressing, and at the same time happy. They achieved the tone of sad and slightly depressing by making Susie watch her family deal with and struggle with her death, while at the same time making Susie watch her raper/murder. I also thought it was happy because she gets to see her sister and her brother grow up and see all the happy things that they go through. I personally thought that they used the correct genres of music throughout the course of the movie. I thought this because when she gets killed and is running as a ghost they play sad and slightly scary sounding music, also when she finally gets to the tree and is about to claim her freedom they play happy and soft sounding music. Next, I thought the rating PG-13 was appropriate for the audience because they said that there would be mild violence and harsh language along with the fact that she gets raped, which I believe 13 year olds and up can handle. I also thought that the scenery was appropriate for the movie because in that state they have cold winters and warmer summers and they did this in the movie, also they have lots of fields and crops of corn just like in the movie. http://www.boston.com/ae/movies/articles/2010/01/15/peter_jackson_gets_the_small_fragile_story_of_the_lovely_bones_all_wrong/
